The Dalton boys were the products of the idealic upbringing the West had to offer and it led them into what they thought would be a respectable and promising law enforcement career.

But realty proved to be harder than their commitment to duty could stand. Once promising citizens of the Oklahoma Territory, Bob, Grat, Bill, and Emmett Dalton lapsed into a life on the run highlighted by a few acts of retaliation on those they blamed for the wrongs in the world. When I was growing up he used to show me the bullet holes on either side of his leg from where the bullet went through and through. I wonder if there are any record of collateral damage to innocent townspeople shot in the crossfire but not in the fight.

Call me A close friend of mine has a Winchester Model lever action rifle that has been handed down to him from his great grandfather, who worked for the coroner at site of the bank robbery. Since he was a small boy, his grandfather and father and uncles told him of his great grandfather getting this rifle at the crime scene and it belonged to one of the robbers.
