And on top of that, Maarten is missing. It just got hotter than hell in Brazil. Renounced by Bailey Bradford is the 10th book in the Southwestern Shifters series and the 1st I read.

Maybe he could just have some fun with him and be over this obsession. Dallas is soon attracted to Tiago and when he tries to leave him, Dallas realizes the jaguar is his mate. They can speak telepathically, just how only mates can do. Can this two shifters find a common ground to be together? In Renounced each character is a lead actor in his story. We have the lust story between Tiago and Dallas, the love story between Marcus and Nathan, the rescue mission of Maarten.
For example, since the rescue mission takes a good first part of the book, maybe the author should have found a way to put Tiago and Dallas in it too. He would give use a chance to know this two characters better. So here I am, reading a really hot sex scene, YES! Like Like. Harley spends a great deal of this story coming to terms with his newfound shifter knowledge and his personal shame and anger at his past behaviours that lead him into such a situation to begin with. Worst of all, his wolf has gone dormant — making it impossible for Val to shift anymore, or at least for now. Val is a strong man, determined to overcome his new limitations, but he fears his value among the pack is now inadequate. To prove to Val that he is still highly valued, regardless of his damages, Marcus assigns him to guard over Harley.
The two have immediate chemistry, and soon realise their status as destined mates. The story sees the two come together as they work to overcome their countless emotional issues, while also keeping each other safe from more deadly threats. That was what mates did. That pretty much sums up the story. I strongly suspect that my lacklustre reaction probably had to do with how much I loved the previous story Resilience. It would have been hard pressed to compare, but still an overall enjoyable addition to the series. Aug 22, Serena Yates rated it really liked it Shelves: gay , shifters.
Continuing the story of the members of the various packs of the Southwestern Shifters series and focusing on the North American continent for now, this sixth book contains the tale of Harley, one of Joshua Dobson's victims, and Val, one of the Alpha Anax's guards who was injured in a previous book and is the only known wolf shifter to have ended up in a coma.

With two men wounded externally and internally, emotions run high in this book, and I became immediately and deeply involved in Harley's and Val's plight. They had so much going against them, and yet, both seemed to feel they belong together from the start.

But with Harley denying it and Val not sure because his wolf is "asleep" after the coma, their road is not an easy one. Harley hates wolf shifters with a vengeance. After what Joshua Dobson did to him, he believes all wolf shifters are cruel beasts, and his fear almost paralyzes him. Even though Nathan and Marcus take him into their home and try to show him not all shifters are bad, Harley is so stuck in his beliefs they eventually let him go back to his apartment. Not even the man in a coma, who attracts Harley's attention just before he leaves, can change that.
Harley is emotional, impulsive, and not exactly open-minded even after he has physically recovered from his ordeal. It's the mental and emotional healing which is far more difficult, and part of what this story is really about. His learning curve, once he meets Val and understands he is a shifter as well, is steep and painful.
Luckily, Harley is a survivor and a lot stronger than he thinks. My heart went out to Val from the very beginning. And worst of all, his wolf has "gone to sleep", as he calls it, refusing to come out.
Southwestern Shifters series by Bailey Bradford | Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words
He faces the prospect of never being able to shift again. In a society where physical strength is valued above all else, he can't possibly fit. No matter that his Alpha Anax and highest commander thinks differently, Val will need to experience this for himself if he wants to truly heal. As with the other books in this series, I loved the many twists and turns, the continuing larger story about the shifters' power games, and the secondary characters from previous books returning for an "update" or two.
If you like shifter stories and complicated human-shifter interaction, if you have enjoyed the books so far, and if you're looking for a read that will give you deep emotions, devotion between mates before they even know they're fated to be together, and hot man-on-man action, then you will probably like this novel as much as I did.
Harley was feisty but yet emotionally damaged what Harley went through at the hands of Joshua Dobson was devastating and I thought it was wonderful how Val was so patient and tender with him. He helped Harley reclaim his life. And then there's Val, who's physically damaged blind in one eye, limping from a leg injury and unable to shift due to an attack by Joshua Dobson , yet Harley put aside his fear and hatred of 4.
And then there's Val, who's physically damaged blind in one eye, limping from a leg injury and unable to shift due to an attack by Joshua Dobson , yet Harley put aside his fear and hatred of all shifters and helped Val see what a sexy and strong man he still was. They were perfect together and really helped each other heal. The introduction of Harley's brother Ryder and the circumstances of Ryder's conversion opened up another avenue for the series to take in future books, plus the search still continues for the missing shifters in Amsterdam, so we'll have a lot of interesting storylines to look forward to and I for one can't wait I loved this book, I love the way this wolf has issues and is still a Soldier.
I love the chemistry between mates. I love that Marcus and Nathan remained in this book. I love the plot. I just loved it! Oct 17, Anyta Sunday rated it really liked it. I thought the build up and the start of the story was really great. I was curious and invested in Harley and his pain at being trapped in a house full of werewolves—excuse me, shifters. The tension holds very well until the middle of the 3. The tension holds very well until the middle of the book, then, unfortunately, everything hurdles toward a happy end. Way too quickly, in my opinion. Had this story been twice as long, and the characters had a chance to slowly get to the HEA, this would have been a really awesome read, but instead, within two days Val and Harley would die for each other and love each other head over heels.

I felt it could have been drawn out much more, and I was a bit disappointed, particularly because the author has a nice writing style. Still, even as it is, I thought it made for guilty pleasure reading. Nov 18, Mouse rated it it was ok. Although, the plot with this one kind of fell apart as is per usual.
Not happy. I liked the fact that they were both broken and came into the relationship together and were able to heal The greatest part of the story was just skimmed over. Then BAM! Harley and Val's story struck a great chord with me. These two are much more powerful than they think. I like the inner core on them - and they don't really degenerate into whiny dogs either.

But as Harley sorts through his memories we learn that although he might not have been penetrated by Joshua or any of his men, he was violated. Unbeknownst to Harley, Val is a shifter. I enjoyed watching them connect emotionally and building the level of trust needed for a non-shifter relationship. A good rule of thumb is that series have a conventional name and are intentional creations , on the part of the author or publisher.
For now, avoid forcing the issue with mere "lists" of works possessing an arbitrary shared characteristic, such as relating to a particular place. Avoid series that cross authors, unless the authors were or became aware of the series identification eg. Also avoid publisher series, unless the publisher has a true monopoly over the "works" in question. So, the Dummies guides are a series of works.
But the Loeb Classical Library is a series of editions, not of works. Home Groups Talk Zeitgeist.
